Join us for this wonderful tour of the famous Blackpool Illuminations, which every autumn transform a five-mile stretch of the promenade into a breathtaking blaze of colourful lights in spectacular designs. We have also included a visit to the ‘Downton of the North’, and our hotel provides entertainment every evening.
Day 1 Leaving the local area early in the morning, we travel north to St Annes-on-Sea making suitable refreshment stops along the way, and arriving in time for dinner.
Day 2 After a leisurely breakfast, we travel up the Ribble Valley to Clitheroe, where you can get a snack for lunch. This afternoon we visit Gawthorpe Hall. Redesigned in the 1850s by Sir Charles Barry, designer of the Houses of Parliament and the ‘real’ Downton Abbey, Highclere Castle; the Hall houses the North West’s largest collection of portraits on loan from the National Portrait Gallery as well as The Gawthorpe Textiles Collection.
Day 3 Take the day to explore Blackpool, where we have included entry to Blackpool Tower Ballroom and the Circus. After an earlier dinner this evening, we take a leisurely guided coach tour through the amazing illuminations for which the town is so rightly famous.
Day 4 Departing after breakfast, we head south and arrive in the local area late afternoon. We will make stops for refreshments along the way.
