Blossom at Easter

For a few short weeks the road sides in the Vale of Evesham are ablaze with colour – the soft pink tones of cherry and apple contrasting with the white of pear and plum. We tour the black and white villages to see the best of the spring colour, visit Evesham, Berkeley Castle and take a trip on the Gloucester Warwickshire Railway.

Day 1 After our usual taxi pick up, we travel to Marlborough where we have some free time for refreshments. We then continue to our hotel, arriving in time to relax before dinner.

Day 2 We travel to Evesham today where we have time to explore the pretty town and get some refreshments. We have included a guided tour of the Almonry Museum and Heritage Centre, a 14th Century building once home to the Almoner of Evesham Abbey which now houses a unique collection of artefacts as well as exhibitions of the history of the area. This afternoon we travel along the Blossom Trail, touring some of the prettiest black and white villages through the Vale of Evesham. We have with us a local guide to take us to the less visited places and give us interesting information as we enjoy our drive.

Day 3 We have a morning train ride on the Gloucester Warwickshire Steam Railway from Cheltenham on the extended line to Broadway. We have some free time in this delightful sleepy town before continuing through the Cotswolds via Stow-on-the-Wold and return to our hotel.

Day 4 After a leisurely breakfast, we make our way southwards to Berkeley Castle. This stunning Medieval Castle has been the home of the Berkeley family since 1153. Elizabeth I stayed here and Edward II was murdered here, and you can see wonderful tapestries, paintings, fine silver and dark dungeons. We return to our hotel mid-afternoon.

Day 5 Departing after breakfast, we make our way to Salisbury for some free time before continuing to the local area to be met by our taxis to take us home.
