Day 1 We make our way to Dover for the short sea crossing to Calais. Then across France and on to our overnight hotel near Saarbrucken.

Day 2 We continue our journey to Basel, and board the Amadeus Queen in the afternoon. Tonight, enjoy a welcome cocktail before dinner and setting sail for Strasbourg.

Day 3 We cruise into the Alsace region of France and reach Strasbourg during breakfast. We have an included guided tour of the city this morning, and this afternoon you could explore independently, or there is an optional excursion along the Alsace wine route.

Day 4 Before breakfast, we arrive in the Rhineland-Palatinate town of Speyer, where the morning is free or there is an optional guided walking tour of the historic centre. We then cruise along the Rhine to Mannheim where there is an optional excursion to Heidelberg.

Day 5 Two charming stops today. In the morning we have Rüdesheim, a town well known for its wine making. There is an optional tour to the Mechanical Music Museum before we depart to cruise the most beautiful section of the river – the Upper Middle Rhine Valley. Shortly after, we arrive in Koblenz, one of Germany’s oldest and most beautiful towns.

Day 6 An early departure takes us on a detour onto the Moselle River to the little town of Cochem, where the magnificent castle dominates the landscape. There is an optional tour with wine tasting or you could simply stroll through the narrow streets among half-timbered housing soaking up the atmosphere. During dinner we cruise toward Cologne.

Day 7 Our morning is spent in the vibrant city of Cologne, with its rich cultural history and many world-famous sights, including the wonderful cathedral. There is an optional walking tour to get some historic insight into the city. We spend the afternoon cruising and this evening the captain invites you to a Gala Dinner, full of tasty regional dishes.

Day 8 By lunchtime we arrive in Hoorn, the picturesque Dutch town where you can start on an optional excursion to Amsterdam. Those remaining on board will discover the beauty of the Dutch waterways as the ship glides towards the capital, remaining docked for the evening.

Day 9 We disembark after breakfast and travel though Belgium and into France. We have an afternoon crossing to Dover, and then we make our way to the local area to meet our taxis.

Amadeus Queen 

Our beautiful ship was built in 2018 and has four decks offering panoramic restaurant, bar/lounge, river terrace, sun deck, indoor pool, fitness room, hair salon, massage room and gift shop. There are different grades of stateroom available, but all cabins are en-suite and have TV, telephone, safe, hairdryer and individual climate control. There is a lift, but this does not serve the sundeck. Onboard entertainment includes lectures, cooking demonstrations and live music.
