A remarkable county blessed with tranquil countryside, bustling towns, fine country houses, and with connections to the English Civil War as well as the history of British Aviation.
Day 1 After being picked up from your door by taxi, you join our touring coach and we travel northwards, stopping in St Albans before continuing to our hotel in Marston, where we are greeted with tea and biscuits.
Day 2 We drive to the historic city of Lincoln with its magniﬁcent cathedral, and Norman castle. We have a short guided tour of the city by coach, followed by a tour of the cathedral. The old town is a labyrinth of little alleyways with interesting shops and lovely tearooms.
Day 3 Beginning with a drive to Coningsby, we visit the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitor Centre, located within the grounds of the RAF base. We enjoy a guided tour of the hangar and have a chance to get refreshments. Next we travel to Newark-on-Trent and visit the National Civil War Centre, taking us back to the time of King Charles and Oliver Cromwell.
Day 4 This morning we drive to Spalding and visit Springﬁelds Garden Centre with time to explore and purchase some lunch. Our afternoon is spent at Belton House, near Grantham. The perfect English country house, set in its own deer park, Belton was built in the 17th Century and oﬀers delightful gardens, orangery and lakeside walks.
Day 5 Departing after breakfast, we travel southwards making suitable refreshment stops along the way and arrive in the local area late afternoon.
Our three-star charming hotel is set in the beautiful countryside of Grantham, and has been recently refurbished to an excellent standard. The hotel has lounge, bar, atmospheric restaurant and a health club which boasts swimming pool, sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi. Bedrooms have TV, telephone, WiFi, hairdryer and hospitality tray. The hotel has a lift to most rooms.
