The twin towns of East Looe and West Looe sit either side of the river and form a vibrant and picturesque base for our tour. We get a real taste of the smugglers’ coast at Mevagissey, Polperro and Fowey, and an insight into Victorian life at Lanhydrock.
Day 1 We pick you up from your door before joining our tour coach to travel west across the country and into Cornwall, making suitable refreshment stops along the way, and we are greeted at our hotel with tea or coffee.
Day 2 A beautiful excursion through an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, first to Mevagissey, with narrow streets leading down to the protected harbour. We then visit the lovely town of Fowey on the west side of the Fowey Estuary, once home to Daphne du Maurier and with an old town packed with Medieval and Georgian buildings. A minibus runs from the coach park down to the town (£2.50 round trip).
Day 3 A free day to relax and enjoy Looe. Alternatively join your driver on a half day tour to Polperro, an unspoilt fishing village famous for its artists and its history of smuggling.
Day 4 After a leisurely breakfast, we visit Lanhydrock House and Gardens, to discover 50 rooms, including the extensive kitchens, the lives of those in service, and the lives of those living in the Victorian luxury of the family rooms. The garden is packed with rare trees and shrubs, glorious flowerbeds and winding woodland walks.
Day 5 Leaving the beautiful Cornish coast behind us, we travel homewards with suitable refreshment stops, before reaching the local area early evening.
