This new tour is packed with interesting excursions to Kingston Lacy, Abbotsbury Swannery, Portland Castle and includes a steam train ride on the Swanage Railway and a Jurassic Cruise – all from our delightful hotel on the Isle of Portland.
Day 1 We travel via Bournemouth to arrive at our hotel in the afternoon.
Day 2 A beautiful day out today begins in Norden where we board the steam railway for the six-mile journey past Corfe Castle to Swanage. After a few hours to explore this pretty resort, we take a one-hour cruise to Poole, along the dramatic Jurassic Coast. We return to our hotel by coach.
Day 3 We begin by exploring the Isle of Portland, with an included visit to Portland Castle, one of Henry VIII’s ﬁnest coastal forts, with beautiful views over Portland Harbour. Our afternoon is spent in Weymouth, with its panoramic esplanade and picturesque harbour.
Day 4 We visit Dorchester on market day, where you might like to explore the market, visit the museum, or relax in one of the many cafés. After lunch we travel to Abbotsbury Swannery, the only place in the world where you can walk through a colony of nesting mute swans.
Day 5 Leaving our hotel after breakfast, we travel to Kingston Lacy, a beautiful 17th Century mansion built in Italian style, and packed with antiques and gorgeous works of art. In the afternoon, we continue to the local area and meet our taxis.
