Relax and enjoy Paignton, Torquay, Dartmoor and Exeter, travel by steam to Kingswear, cruise on the River Dart, and sail on the oldest shipping canal in Europe through two working locks and a swing bridge!
Day 1 After your taxi pick up, we make our way west and visit Bennett’s Water Gardens, where 8 acres of gardens are home to outstanding displays of water lilies. We continue to Paignton and our hotel.
Day 2 A full day excursion beginning with the Paignton & Dartmouth Railway. We travel on the steam railway from Paignton to Kingswear, which travels seven miles along the spectacular Torbay coast, and through the wooded slopes bordering the Dart Estuary. We then cross on the passenger ferry to Dartmouth where you have free time to explore. In the afternoon we board our boat for the one-hour cruise to Totnes, where our coach will be waiting. (Order of day depends on tides).
Day 3 A free day to enjoy the elegant resort town of Torquay.
Day 4 We drive to Exmouth and board our Stuart Line boat at 11am to enjoy a 2½ hour cruise up to Exeter, sailing through 8 miles of manmade waterway, through two manually operated locks and causing the main Exeter to Dawlish road to come to a halt as the Countess Weir Swing Bridge is opened to allow our passage through! Snacks are available on board. The rest of the afternoon is free to explore Exeter.
Day 5 After a leisurely breakfast we travel into Dartmoor visiting Widecombe-in-the-Moor and returning via Buckfast Abbey.
Day 6 We depart after breakfast and stop in Salisbury with time for lunch and shopping. We then make our way to our taxis and home
